Raytheon Marine becomes Raymarine
Raymarine acquired Raytheon’s Recreational Marine Division in a management buy-out backed by HgCapital in January 2001. At the time of the buy-out the Group rebranded its products under the name 'Raymarine.’
Since the management buy-out, the Group has invested significantly in Raymarine’s growth and profitability, and in 2004 Raymarine plc became a publicly traded company and was floated on the London Stock Exchange.
Major Raymarine Product Milestones
2003
Raymarine launched the DSM250 HD Digital Sounder Module. An industry first, Raymarine’s exclusive digital fishfinder technology created a new benchmark in fishfinder performance, giving anglers an unprecedented clear view of fish and bottom structure.
2004
2004 saw the launch of Raymarine’s C-Series multifunction displays. The C-Series offered high resolution screens and a brand new user interface for accessing your radar, chartplotter and fishfinder on a single display. A huge success, C-Series pioneered the new category of Multifunction Display (MFDs) in marine electronics.
2005
Building on the C-Series MFD platform, the E-Series high performance multifunction displays were released soon after. E-Series quickly became the class leading networked MFD, offering boaters ultra-bright displays, 3D chartplotting, SeaTalk high speed networking and video camera integration. Raymarine also enhanced its entire autopilot product line with the addition of full function wireless autopilot controllers.
2006
Raymarine launched a range of new products to compliment the industry leading MFDs. New products launched included the ST60 Plus SeaTalk instrument system, SIRUS Marine Weather for E-Series, the CAM100 marine video camera and LifeTag wireless man overboard system. Raymarine also entered the satellite television market with the 45STV stabilized antenna system.
2007
Raymarine expanded its product line into 50’ and over vessel category with the G-Series navigation system. G-Series utilized black box processors, remote keyboards and ultra-bright displays to create a fully integrated glass bridge helm for premium sport fishing and luxury yachts.
Raymarine also introduced a high performance digital radar receiver technology with a new line of HD Digital and Super HD Digital radar antennas for the E-Series and G-Series Navigation systems.
2007 also saw the launch of the X-Series autopilot course completer product line. From the simple, owner installed X-5 Wheel pilot to big boat X-30 autopilot system, all X-Series based autopilots were equipped with a built-in rate gyro sensor and Raymarine AST (Advanced Steering Technology). AST enabled smooth and accurate course keeping and greatly simplified autopilot calibration and setup.
In addition to the powerful new X-Series course computers, Raymarine introduced the ST70 series of color autopilot and multifunction instrument displays.
2008
The A-Series line of small boat chartplotters and chartplotter/fishfinder combos was introduced in 2008. Engineered to fit in smaller spaces, the A-Series line offered premium features and simplicity, including HD Digital fishfinder technology, pre-loaded charts and a built-in high sensitivity GPS sensor.
The ST70 Plus big screen multifunction instrument autopilot display was also introduced. A highly customizable system, the ST70 Plus combined large 6.5” color displays with remote keyboards for autopilot and instrument control.
2009
In 2009 Raymarine introduced the 2nd generation C-Series and E-Series Widescreen multifunction displays. The C-Series Widescreen elevated the C-Series product line with higher definition displays, faster performance, networking and video integration. Widescreen technology offers captains more viewing area and larger split screen possibilities without compromising usability and situational awareness. The all new E-Series Widescreen brought the introduction of hybridTouch™ technology and a brand new multifunction user interface to the Raymarine product line. Raymarine’s most advanced and easy-to-use multifunction display, the E-Series Widescreen gives boaters the simplicity and convenience of a touch screen with the confidence of keypad control in rough seas.
