Humminbird Fishfinder TransducersThe Humminbird Transducer takes the electrical signal from your transmitter, turns it into sonar, and sends it out. It also captures all returning echoes and converts them back into electrical signals. Humminbird Transducers are mounted in the water, either on the transom, the inside the hull, or on the trolling motor. All Humminbird Transducers should be mounted straight down and away as far from motors, props and hull obstructions as possible. A cable connects the Humminbird Transducer to the fishfinder.Transom Transducers Transom Transducers mount on the transom (back) of the boat in contact with the surface of the water. To prevent damage to the boat or transducer, a kick-up feature in the mounting bracket allows the transducer to pivot up and out of the way if struck by an object. Transom mount hardware is included with the transducer. Portable Transducers Portable Transducers mount on the transom or side of almost any wood, aluminum, or fiberglass boat. A heavy duty rubber suction cup provides for temporary installation and holds the transducer at trolling motor speeds only. For a completely portable fishfinder, The Portable Case (PTC-W2) accessory contains all parts needed to convert your existing fishfinder to portable operation using your existing transducer. Portable Mount Transducer shown is XPT-6-TB-90. Trolling Motor Mount Transducer Trolling Motor Mount Transducers are designed to mount on to the body of most trolling motors. A low profile shape reduces drag in the water and minimizes interference with weeds. Trolling Motor Transducers are often used in conjunction with the standard Transom Mount Transducer and connected by a switch to allow the fishfinder to display information from either the transom or the trolling motor. Some Transom Mount Transducers can be converted to Trolling Motor Mount by purchasing a Trolling Motor Adapter.Trolling Motor Transducer shown is XTM-3-16. Angled Puck Transducer Inside Hull Angled Puck Transducer mount to the inside of most fiberglass boat hulls and transmit the sonar signal through the hull. On hulls with a deadrise less than 15 degrees, a flat bottom Puck Transducer should be used. For angles greater than 15 degrees, an Angled Puck Transducer is recommended to assure the sonar signal travels downward. Angled Puck Transducer shown is XAP-6-16. Puck Transducers Inside Hull Transducers mount to the inside of most fiberglass boat hulls and transmit the sonar signal through the hull. On hulls with a deadrise less than 15 degrees, a flat bottom transducer should be used. For angles greater than 15 degrees, an angled transducer is recommended to assure the sonar signal travels downward. Puck Transducer shown is XP-6-16. Plastic Through Hull Transducers Plastic Thru-Hull Transducers are for large boats and for boats with in-board motors that make typical Transom Mount Transducers ineffective. They are not recommended for trailered boats as the transducer is not flush with the hull. Plastic Thru-Hull Transducers require that a hole be drilled in the hull and the shaping of a fairing block. Professional installation is recommended. Bronze Thru-Hull Transducers are an alternative to Plastic Thru-Hull Transducers. Plastic Thru-Hull Transducer shown is XTH-6-TB-90-P. Bronze Through Hull Bronze Thru-Hull Transducers are for large boats and for boats with in-board motors that make typical Transom Mount Transducers ineffective.
